Bharat Parivar Student Committee (BPSC) Elections 2012-2013
We had another successful year for Bharat Parivar and we are really thankful to all volunteers and participants for making it a huge success. This year we organised several cultural and sports events, starting form highly appreciated event of the year ‘Indian Republic Day Celebration’ followed by ‘Holi Celebration’ at Balaji temple. We organised Sports week, where more than 40 people participated in various games starting from Chess, Badminton, Pool, Bowling and Cricket. We celebrated ‘Indian Independence Day’ followed by Welcome Week, Desi Fiesta and Diwali Trip to Leicester. We kept our tradition of helping Indian students by supporting them like a family by arranging accommodation for 25 new students in 2011-12.
This is again that time of the year where we handover our responsibilities to the next generation of coming Indian students. Electing committee will carry on from where we started and add new dimensions to Bharat Parivar’s existence. We will have democratic elections, for the post of President, Vice-president, secretary, treasurer, marketing manager, cultural co-ordinator. Therefore, take out sometime and go through their manifestos and vote for your best candidate. Following are the nominations with their manifestos for various posts of BPSC. My dear friends, I am glad to be a member of Bharat Parivar at the UoB. I know that this is the one and only Indian Committee where we Indians from different parts of India have come together to create our bright future. During this period of our stay I wish that we all should have our best time and make some great memories to carry away.
If I am given this opportunity to lead our community, I will make sure that your all expectations come true. Not only that but also providing greater opportunity for the new comers and ease their journey towards us and comfortable stay here in Birmingham. I was a leading team member in our under grad class and I have hosted Fests for 4 years. I have the experience of making things fun loving and memorable. I used to make sure that each one in our department are involved and have their best time. I would like to create that effect in our Bharat Parivar and let’s make our studies more interesting and super active by adding little spices in that.

I am interested in joining committee as I think it will give me an insight of what a society is all about and give me a chance to have a wider experience and knowledge about the society’s prevailing conditions, as well as provide me an opportunity to consider myself a part of society to make a positive change towards the betterment of all. I along with my positive approach and ability to work within a team can effectively, creatively and resourcefully produce results with minimal direction which will enhance the work and efficiency of the group in achieving the goals and represent society at various platforms.

I will skip over the whole if elected I will do this-that and will talk about how I want our Bharat Parivar Society to be seen as. I don’t know to how many of you it matters how people from other country see us. I take part in personal skill award (PSA) workshop called Intercultural Communication where we talk about different stereotypes of different countries and verify if they are correct by the people of those countries. It is fascinating to find so many similarities in different cultures across the globe and a sense of relief when I get to know the truth and clarify the stereotypes against Indian people. All those who attend various Bharat Parivar events must have noticed presence of students from other nationalities attending the events with their friends, and showing curiosity in our culture. I want this to be carried on a much bigger scale. Along with organising events ingenious to our society, I want these events to be organised, delivering a story, a detail to people of other origins. My idea of organising such events is to increase the interest of outside society in our society and build an intercultural platform to increase number of resources available to students from India. I will always help any and every member of our society in any way possible making sure that if not all, at least some of their problems are resolved. I care about the development of our society, and I care about its people. Vote for me as the next President if you see me suited.

Manifesto for the post of President:
If elected as the President of the BP Society I can guarantee that I will do everything in my power to ensure that Students from India will have a Student Union that they can be proud of, a key part of the social aspect of Student life, a place that represents the diverse community that we are proud to have here in the UoB. I am extremely hard working, one promise I can make is that I will do my best to fulfil this manifesto and any mandates coming from member students or students in general. I have served as the main organizing committee for various national and state level fests of my college for the past years back in my undergrads in India. I won't be promising any massive overhauls of the society, but can induce just lots of little changes to improve things, and realistic plans for a strong year of communication, representation and entertainment. Your interest is our mandate, that’s all that matters...
For the post of Cultural Coordinator:
If elected as the new Cultural Coordinator of the BP Society I can guarantee that everyone in the society are well related to their cultural ethics and background and be proud to have it here in the UoB. I have been heavily involved in many societies as Cultural and Creative Society heads back in my undergrads in India and right now being a part of the BP Society at UoB, I can definitely do some things to improve and create a new vibe of cultural relations of India here in our university.
A fortnightly magazine and specially made merchandise of the BP Society to advertise, overall publicity, and getting your name more widely spread in the University can make a big change. I will co-ordinate and promote multicultural events to encourage the integration of the members into the Society leading to increased cultural awareness for all students and co-ordinate and promote entertainments and other activities specific to member students from India. If elected as Cultural coordinator for the BP Society, I hope to bring the insights and skills I have acquired from the past experiences to this society, and to continue represent students and their views, and to organise events that will keep them closer, even abroad, to their own culture.
